Cyclone by Aaron HowardWhen the siren went off we didn't have a second
and then the house was taken over by a searing wind.
The roof flew off and the walls faded away
and my little brother flew up without a word to say.
Just this scared look on his face as he left my arms
to be lifted into the cyclones swirling harms.
The last time I saw him before I was struck down
and awoke in a hospital gown.
they found me two miles away
in a field was where I did lay.
Only a few broken bones they said
and a slight concussion to the head
but my family wasn't so lucky
not even uncle Chuckie.
They all died in that twister F4
and now I don't listen for those sirens anymore
Since I know that they can't kill me yet
and I'm still waiting to settle my little brothers bet.
