Worship

by Brian Francis

In the morning when I awake
laying close beside your quiet form
feeling the draw of your being on mine
smelling the sweet scent of your essence
I draw life into myself and I reach to embrace
to hold to cherish that which I need to survive
and that which I need is you

throughout my day I am drawn into thoughts of you
thoughts that warm me within and bring me joy
moments like whispers where your image plays
and my day becomes dreams as you dance
my mind the stage of your wonderful ballet
my being your awe inspired audience
yearning for the star -- you

You. You are the purpose of my life
loving you, holding you feeling you tasting you
you the holder of my heart the meaning of my happiness
I wonder at times, how, and if I could truly deserve - you.
What greatness could I have done in a previous life
to be allowed to find peace so easily
in my embrace of you

Oh, Brian, the shape, the flow of this poem, full of such romance and such beautiful images; wonderful, fulfilling work.
