Platinum and Coffee

by John Harder

At home you've got it all
she's so beautiful
Boredom led you astray
The temptation crushed you
and your sense of morality
Before you realize what happens
you wake up to the smell of coffee
but beside you lies a stranger
Ten years of monogamy
and then this
So many lies
You're out of control
"I'm going away on business"
but not the kind you think

"Honey I'm home"
Why was the platinum in the drawer?
The band of love was left home
along with the honesty
and faithfulness
what will the children think?

You made the future pain of it all come out so gracefully. I LIKE this. A lot.
