*BreatheAndShudderSigh*

by Trisha De Gracia

I've tried to tear away
from your abstract
multi-coloured scintillas,
from your demonic shards of twisted metal
your taintedlove poetry
and every other mutilated piece of trust
I still have imbedded in my heartflesh.

You're rainbow words paint the sky
and I'll keep trying my damnedest
to keep my eyes downcast,
for fear that anything less
will throw me into the warped bit of strangeness
your love hurled me into before.

It's not to say that I don't love you.

No.

Because eternally you'll rest behind my eyelids
beaming that enourmous smile
and catching my breath in my throat.

It's just to say
from experience
that darting specks of dazzling star
tend to vanish back into the night.

Author's Note: This is what happens when people you sincerely cared about appear, sans the trust they had before certain tragic events played out, and you still care. A lot. A whole lot. But you know what's good for you and your emotions. Except your emotions don't agree with what you think your emotions need. So you sit around and think and wonder why everything had to happen in the order that it did, but that goes no where, so instead you write a poem.

Everyone's pretty much captured your brilliance in this one, Trish. The final stanza gives me shivers.

"that darting specks of dazzling star tend to vanish back into the night." splendid. When in doubt, write it out. Definetly. And, I also make word combinations with my pieces, some people don't approve, but I love it. So bravo to you for that!
