fragile skin

by Rachelle Howe

your body is a foreign language
the oceans of your abdomen and innerthighs,
the portions that i took, the cursed gold
between your legs. i stole you, once, and

you request the return of these
occultic offerings, your mouth and spine.
i refuse. i will not say that you were
never mine. i will not say the past lies.

i held you there. you squirmed.
you with your china doll antics; so fragile,
cracking beneath my able hands.

Author's Note: okay. so i suck. hardcore. this is all i have for now so i don't lose it, but trying to get an ending, i had a NASTY tinge of writer's block. yeah, so under construction, like whoa. alania schneider rocks my socks. she gave me the title. weee! :) jennifer said, "fragile sin," so, uh, they both rule. and i still suck. oh well.

I already love this; your able hands, indeed.

I'm gonna toss another 'wow!' out there into the sea of commented wows. That opening comparison is genius; a human body, something as familiar as speaking, but still mysterious with all it's oddly pronounced features. The rest of the poem just stays right up there. So very beyond nifty.

You may suck, but I say you amaze. Your work knocks my socks off, and leaves me smiling every time. You rock, Rachelle... Heart, star

Refusal to give up something which is dear to you and yet possess the knowledge that it is already gone. Exquisite!
