Slowfall

by Kate Demeree

There is something to be said for the
Slow Steady Fall
Like a balloon
Drifting Through
a summer sky
Changing direction
Lazily
With the breeze
Finding land again
In some distant place
Coming to rest
Easily on the earth
Or waving branch
Of welcoming tree
As opposed to the
Falling of the apple
Landing with a thunk
Brusingly hard amidst
Others of it's kind
At the foot of a tree
Gone too heavy with fruit
To bear the weight anymore

Ethereal, full of gentle motion.

As light and flowing as balloons and snowflakes. Beautiful poetry.
