Bones; The

by Aaron Howard

Bare my soul and lose my innocence
while I pay my daily repetitive penance.
I constantly show the pain I've endured
Nothing gained is nothing ever ventured.
Bare my heart for you to snatch up and steal
since pain is all we can understandably feel.
Walk carefully through this shattered mirror
as this shattered dream gets clearer and nearer.
Show you all my ill earned sins
since after disclosure, the healing begins.
No candy coated words to woo you
something a little more tangible and true.
A glimpse through my puffy red eyes
and show you all the cracks in my disguise.
Peer at this soul and cast no stones
and cut right through, right down to the bones.

Author's Note: I wrote this about writing poetry on the internet.. how you can look deep into someone by reading their work.. hard to hide yourself in a poem..

Oh, very good point. Wonderful form, too.
