Sifting Minutes Through Twilight

by Amanda Conlogue

I am twilight, torn
between the sun and the moon
coral bruise beaten
down by dawn

minutes sift through hours
in your arms, I breathe
your skin and smell
your warmth, our desire
my impending departure

I want to stay

knowing when I blink
dusk will shift
as the moon drags night
pulls me, into the tides

to you, from you, my shore
I never can stay.
