Sweetest Ache

by Kate Demeree

Tonight I will turn down the sheets
Climb between their cool crisp layers
In that bed we shared together countless times
Reach out to you while I hug the pillow
Which still wears the case your head rested on
Close my eyes, and snuggled in your shirt
Dream of your returnÂ…
There is such a sweet longing in my heart
An indefinable ache in my body for you
Who are ever present in my spirit
Subtle the changes in this road
I who only knew the heart stopping
Awful hurting pain, now experience
The sweet ache of loves longing

Gorgeous words, exquisitely vivid and expressive.
