So Perfectly You

by Jared Winkler

Who are you?
so far away,
penetrating my thoughts.
lecture hall listening
my hand mechanically
etches your initials
over discussions of Democracy.

I feel powerless
at this distance
to convince you to stay.
Yet you haven't gone.
I worry before we meet
worries of change
But, no.

You remain you.
So perfectly you.
So perfectly with me.

Holding you,
a feeling consumes me.
I sense the blood
rushing through my veins.
Everything becomes so real.
It scares me.
I love fear.

Who are you?
To show me the ridiculousness
of my infatuations.
Worlds collide,
I long for your touch.
A world removed,
3 kisses and goodnight.
