topic: caught in the wake of your redshift by Rachelle Howei never knew that missing someone
could make you hurt this much. no,
not like this.
i'm staggering as i wash through the
waves of your sanguine lethe,
bewildered as michael rows my boat ashore...
i'm adrift, upon this solitary bone,
the water saltier than i remembered
as it invades the sunset wounds.
in the backlit sky's oblivion,
i'm caught in the wake of your redshift;
melted into the silhouette patterns
from a sunken once-was. and i am
floundering, coughing, spitting
up the names of all the old prophets, and
today, in the mirrored dusk, i'm haunted by
what we could have been.

Posted by Trisha De Gracia on 10/11/03 at 07:15 PM Um hi, uh, my name's Trish, and I just wanted to say that I LOVE this and every one of your poems. :D:D:D Darling this line right here "in the backlit sky's oblivion,
i'm caught in the wake of your redshift;" caught me offguard. Brilliant ;)

Posted by Mainon A Schwartz on 10/14/03 at 03:19 AM "spitting / up all the names of the old prophets"-- perfect and profound. I might tweak the spelling of silhouette a little, but you know my anal editing tendencies. ;-) But then, you also know I think this poem rocks-- as do you. Brava. |
