don't bother going

by William P Strucke

O' brave heart feign laughter and cry within
your joy is extinguished with angry tears and -
pain knocks you down a lifetime of loneliness,
watch as your happy night tears far away.
breaking darkened leaves, they crawl to the ground
again, you're still here but naught to be found

you see her slipping though action could save
she's here but she's already gone.
thinking thus drink and cry to the night
'i'm worthless' - it hits like a bomb.

screaming pain of a thousand broken loves
the loneliness is all you can bear -
not only did she leave you, you abandoned yourself
and you see her in the distance, again.

knowing that laughter will never come back
you hide in a corner and lie on a chair,
the burning in your chest and thumping in ears,
try to stay awake - she's not here

love can be life but lost once again,
it takes it away - to the night.

Author's Note: kinda cheesy, I think.

I don't mind cheese sometimes- the last two lines are very nice and ring true.

And you see her in the distance again. Not totally resigned and somewhat hopeful. Sounds like people I know too well.
