The Growing Crawl by Matt ForgetCrawl
My baby as you begin your sweet adventure
Your journeys unsurpassed
Lifting one knee after the other
Mischief only you can get into
Oh mother, watch the stairs!
Crawl
Through the murky caves
Where goblins rein this nasty land
Darkness unforeseen
Terror lurks within
Mommy, Ive had a bad dream
Crawl
From under the desk
Where you dropped your pencil
During the math quiz
Where you would much rather ride your bike
Mom, I feel sick, can I stay home?
Crawl
Out of bed
Shutting the damn alarm clock off
Get up late from oversleeping
Running out the door to school
Ma, I missed the bus, I need a ride
Crawl
To plug that computer in
Booting up for the first day of classes
Four years creating the rest of your life
Dreams to come true
Ill be fine mom, I promise
Crawl
Under the tree for the holidays
Celebrating Christmas since you left
Things feel different as once was
Grown up
Merry Christmas Mom!
Crawl
And find that wire you dropped
That hooks the resistor to the capacitor
Where the light holds steadily green
Making hundreds of thousands of dollars
Mom, did you say you wanted to clean my mansion?
Crawl
My little angel as you follow my journey
But different as everyones may be
Gradually youll show the way
That way to a better tomorrow
Daddy, can Grandma come too? 10/08/2003 Author's Note: Love Ya Mom! To all the Moms out there! You're the best!
