words

by Melinda Sordino

words only have the meaning we give them. if we were to decide one day that fuck meant love, than everyone would walk around and say "i fuck you" and that would be deemed appropriate. but where do we get off saying one word is "dirtier" than another? i am not a fan of rules and regulations surrounding my artistry anyway, and i like it less when people deem my words to have a negative connotation. they are still just words, formed from letters, just like every word. our perception of them is what is charged with emotion. people get hurt by words, and i will be the first to say that i get hurt more often than other people do. but people claim words will save you. save you? well whose words were there to save me when i was assaulted? and whose words were there to save me when my family laughed at my dreams and plans? mine were. and they got me no where. no can mean yes, and life isn't fair. there is no such thing as good words and bad words. words are simply letters and though we try to place emphasis and emotion in and on them like butter on toast, it doesn't work. because people still lie, and in the end you'll probably get hurt. so use the four letter word, cause in the end there are only 26 letters and a limit to the number of combinations you can make with them.

Well, it's the word experience which matters. And it can differ from the experiencer to experiencer.
