A thought for humanity

by Amy Niggel

Somewhere a star shines, I'm sure.
far from this tiny war torn world.
fifty burn brightly on the azure field
but it seems there are none in the sky left to hear
the wishes wispered by childrens hearts
when they see that bit of light there in the dark.
No stars left to collect these dreams
only those in the banner's seams.
And maybe in that freedom that they represent
should be one's most important wish.
But what happens if it is not
are all the other wishes to be lost?
Now all man kind can understand my words
it seems that only through loss we learn.
And yes I love this country mine
but I love all the people in kind.
So how can I to myself make amends
when so many others in this world shall meet thier ends?
What happened to those lovely stars
that now they live only for a few short hours?
This little war torn world, blue and green from above
has some how seen fit to destroy all fragments of love.
So these darling little orbs of whitest light
have just be come a casualty of the hate filled night.
When brother draws brother's blood
and red stains the ground, that nothing can cover up.
Then you see why the stars won't shine
for even heaven must then turn its eyes
as the stiff white stars on the banner look on
the heavenly sights of hte stars are gone
but they can burn again, bright as ever
if only man kind could live together.

It is beautiful. Makes me take a step back and look at things from a distance and mourn.
