Escape

by Michael Hamlin

Confusion surrounds every door

Spiteful looks and coldness

All is alien and distant

Hope is repaid with disappointment

Plagues of loneliness are my fate

Until I find a beam

Brighter than a jewel

Your smile is radiant

Light shining through despair

You show me acceptance

Wrapped in a blanket of contentment

I have I have shelter and peace in your presence

I will endure and survive

Stronger because of you

Your embrace comforts me

Shows me I am safe

And chases away the fog

Alone and hopeful

I think of you

Anticipating the time I see you next

Knowing when it comes

I will be glad
