Secular Reasoning?

by Laura Doom

Arms up and over and pullpush and over again

kickstroking, screaming for air...

I flounder in splashcrash of bodies
register -- vibrations
a tremble through consciousness
slowing of time
if 'time' can describe
where and why, what and when

I am an object subjected to pressure
exerting myself in pursuit of a stillness
my seldom-fulfilled proxy prophesy
advertising destiny
but delivering old newpapers

Oh!

god!

this is seditious, deliciously empty
shallowdance breathing
waxandwane movement
heart of a mouse
in deep drift of winter

Often I wonder
how it would feel
to think

Oh! God!

and mean it

Sometimes I wish I could truly believe in anything other than bad human nature. Oh! To truly have faith without doubt must be a glorious feeling. One I feel as though I will never attain. Great verse that gets and keeps you thinking.

One feels free and values diametrically changed when out of one dream. At the advent of another disillusionment, the concept of freedom and values takes another change. A self is created to defend the newfound freedom. The selves, defender of the old value system, despite shattered dreams, want to walk back into the old dreams. The conflict is inevitable. One can see contradictory selves/suggestions/thoughts appear, taking cue from the impressions, external, one after the other, to take charge. The situation is serious. The surrender can take you back to the old value system/dreams/illusions. But, one is never sure if the dream one is in will not prove to be a dream inside yet another dream. Reality is after all nothing but a perception from different layers of awareness. This piece seems to have been SEEN walking into the space of time, when time starts stretching like a rubber. The conflict is profound and so distinctly pronounced. The only solace it seems is probably a continual state of conflict
