Always

by Aaron Howard

Dreams to wake me, things to shake me...
Dreams to fade and questions to the life I've made...

Blunders in the dark, the glimpse of a new day
Another look at life, Another way to pay.
Flashes of lucid thoughts here to guide me
and let me see the things lurking inside me.
To gasp at all I've never really known
and all the emotions that I've shown.
To glimpse into the eyes of someone lost
and to sit down and figure out the cost.
To question authority for their absence of faith
and at the end of the day, Do you really feel safe?
Do you interrupt the pieces of time that are sacred
and have nightmares taunt you while you're in bed?
Do you ask God for all the things you lack?
Do you feel like you've been stabbed in the back?
Is there something that you've always known?
even after, from this world you've flown?
Is there a little spot that feels remorse
after you've made you own steady course?
Do you know all the questions to all the plays
and stick with your defense in case of the always?

Such extreme bitterness! I'm sorry that you feel it, but you've sure expressed it well!
