Affection

by Aaron Howard

Sell my soul for the vision of affection
While I sit here losing all of my direction...
Always wondering why I messed up again
holding all this rage bottled up within
Sell off my soul for the chance of a mere touch
and learn to come to miss you everyday and so much.
Holding on to that lasting image of you
and asking myself if these feelings are true.
Sell my soul for just a chance of that one sweet taste
and then hate myself for letting it dribble and go to waste.
Sell my mind off to the men of science fiction
and then put myself on mental restriction.
Sell my heart on the black market of sin
But because it was broken, they gave it back again.

This has some excellent imagery; it depicts a kind of lonely desperation. And that last line, wow, that's perfect.

heartbreak at it's purest. Nice job releasing this.

Takes a lot of super glue to get to the right one. Excellent piece here, an insightful look into heartache and the desperate attempts to seek out "love" in whatever form that takes on. Very well written, deep.
