pessimism at large by Rachelle Howesnip.
time for a cut, time
for these shaggy bangs to
exit stage right.
time for these eyes to adjust,
though the spotlight has been
getting in the way for centuries.
i may be an old soul,
but that makes me no less youthful.
i might pop pills to get my energy,
but being a drug addict isn't as easy
as it looks.
see? you actually swallowed that.
maybe you should take a closer look,
and not take me at face value.
there's nothing of value to take,
after all.
and maybe this world will all fall away,
maybe it'll be cut,
maybe
with the last diamond shreds of innocence. 10/04/2003 Author's Note: i have no idea what this is, or what to make of it. i might edit later. it feels choppy and incomplete. and too many maybes. O.o
