How Ironic (improved)

by Trisha De Gracia

I fell with your tears
with your hope
with your happiness
fell with the shreds of the love you forgot

I fell with each ragged breath
that your lungs wouldn't draw.

With your very hands
I felt her there
knowlingly let you run those hands
guiltily over her intangible form,
let you kiss her again just once
-twice-
and then over and over.
I fell then, with you,
to the knowing desperation of your anguished cries
your wanton stares
fell with eyes that I stared out of,
eyes that held me prisoner
(your iron chains weren't meant to break so easily).

Every song you heard,
it echoed through tumultuous applause,
thousands of jeering voices.
Through it was a single thread of her angelwords.
They wrapped around your heavy form
and dragged you unwillingly back into consciousness
(and all the while we thought we'd heard
eachother through the buzzes)...

But I fell with your tears, and
in hitting the concrete
resigned myself to loving her too.

Author's Note: I just started to write. This one came from somewher unexpected, I reallydon't get it. It wasn't meant to sound the way it sounds, or to be about who it sounds like... but in the end I guess it is. Weird, that I felt normal writing it.

Thanks a million to Rachelle Howe, my fiance *giggles* for helping me touch this up ;)

For a poem that wasn't meant to be about them, this one captures the circumstances pretty well. Shoves the raw emotion into your face.

Oh, look, you've done it again. I'm truly stunned by your talent, and very glad that I found your library.

The entire poem really draws the reader in. Hints and glimpses of emotion evolving from intense imagery. Great verse with a stellar ending!
