Guidance

by Christopher Shin

As I sit alone in a room
of infinite night I start
to remember how amazed I
was when I felt the burning
and yearning in my heart.

In everything all I can remember
is the many shades of colors
your eyes went through when
I fell for you in my darkest
hours.

Was it wise to study the way
of the heart from ancient writings?
To put so much faith in parchements
about knights, streams, heartshaped
leaves, and maidens.

So maybe I won't see you in my life
right now or ever in this life time,
but don't feel so sad for me.
Cause your in my heart each day
I stare out in the ripe emerald
hills that pores out of the ground.

Or the flash of your teeth like
thousands of sparkling stars
that wink softly at me as they
try to comfort me in my own torment.
Many people never had a chance to
taste your soft pink lips,
and I count my blessings that my
lips could drink so deeply.

Don't worry that you couldn't get
so close to me when I was alive.
Cause you were always with me
in this world when I stared out
into the universe before me.

You are the artists inspiration,
and the yearning of great poets.
You are the dreamer' dream, and
the philosopher's debate.
You are my heart and the keeper
of the keys of my salvation in
this world.

You are my champion with a touch
that makes my heart beat like
war drums in the distant winds.
Slowly as I rest my head on the ground,
and coldness fills my bones I will
know that you were the one
that helped me and guided me in the end.

Your power of description is truly amazing, very vivid and lush. Great job.
