goodbye to you

by Jessica Yen

and there you were
standing right under my nose
and i couldn't see
that you were the one
holding me back

that you were the one
with all the glory
and admiration
when all the while
i knew
deep down
that you never
deserved any of it at all.

you told me those lies
and exaggerated tales,
and yes,
i fell for them again
all over again.

but this time i won't
you're on your own now
no one to leech off of
no one to help you through
and listen to those misleading
sob stories you imagine in your head.

don't try your puppy dog face on me
i'm not letting you get by this time
and just steal my hard work
and energy.

you're on your own for good now.
