A Day at the Beach

by Thomas K. Hunt

The sun’s leaning heavy on my shoulders
The heat waves ripple off my back
Some how today I don’t feel older
I’m taking a break from life’s track

Laying around in the moments
That seem to make up my time
Doing a lot of nothing
Silently interviewing my mind

Wishing to stay like this forever
Transfixed in the warp of time
Keep me in this unstrain for eternity
Leave the rat race behind

As the heat gradually gets cooler
The light slowly fades to the west
My mind comes back to reality
I’ve come to the end of my rest
