HeartBreak by Quinlan L GibsonActions...like I didn't care.
Causing you to not be there.
The last drink..
of the recovered, lifetime alcoholic.
A mother's soul;
mourning her dying child..
could ache like this.
A wife's last kiss;
on her warbound husband..
could ache like this.
Instilled in me...a touch of death.
To myself
Because of myself
A jagged pill to swallow,
to cure this harsh lesson learned.
I'm left with nothing but I'm sorry.
11/20/2001 Author's Note: this is an old piece...i made a boo boo by opening my mouth about someone to someone else. It came back around and bit me. Hard. Almost 2 years ago...we've come such a long way. See journal entry 9/23/03 for the details of how this all came about.

Posted by Christopher Shin on 09/22/03 at 09:30 PM A nice description of a broken heart. |
Posted by Susan Q Tomas on 09/23/03 at 01:40 PM The title goes one direction, the poem goes another, and the authors note, a third direction. But the feelings emoted are similar. Regret is as painful as your heart breaking. |
