(Dream) My Elementary school musical

by Aaron Howard

I’m visiting a school.. much like a high school, but there are kids of all ages here.. I get sent to a class room by a guide in the front hall.. and I make my way to the numbered room..
I enter, and it’s a huge room.. Amphitheater style, much like that in a large college. Tanned carpet floors, white walls, same hanging square fluorescent lights you remember from you old school’s.. (if you had them) Kids are everywhere… I look around, the front of the room is huge as well, the chalkboard alone is about 150 feet tall.. and double that wide… So I climb up the stairs and find me a place between a large group of kids.. They start asking me questions and telling me things, the logic behind all of It being quite immature.. They start talking about the teacher and how hot she is.. I think to myself, well at least that’s one plus of being here.. I turn around and wait, the teacher soon enters and a hush falls over the room.. she is hot.. 5’4”, Gray business suit, hair put up in a bun, red framed glasses… and another teacher enters as well, about the same level of hotness.. So I’m in shock.. I sit up as with all the other students, and they startt getting set up to teach.. I start to notice behind the teachers are these bars, sort of like pull up bars surrounding the massive chalk board…(This is where is starts getting weird)
The two teachers start by taking places on both sides of the floor and start practicing range lessons, fah la la kind of thing.. the kids start a mumbled version repeating what the teachers are singing.. Some of the kids are singing words and phrases, basically a warm up session.. One of the kids who was asking me all the questions turns around and starts singing at me.. and a couple more follow suit.. I turn around as I can hear singing getting stronger behind me, I turn and all the kids in the corner are singing a song.. I don’t recognize it.. but I can hear the song taking over the whole room.. I turn back to the front, and now kids are taking to foot and approaching the floor area… They start moving into tiers behind the teachers, singing a song which is growing more familiar by the second.. I see on the bars on the side of the chalkboard, kids are climbing up the wall and positioning them selves.. They break into verse and the kids start flipping upside down on the bars in a choreographed dance number on the wall.. Arms waving in circular motions, not missing a beat.. very mesmerizing.. I stand and belt out a line from the song.. like it’s meant to be…
The kids sing back in retort, as I feel the power of the music taking over the room, my world..
I approach the floor in a very debonair type way, walking in time with the beat of the song, I take both the teachers in hand, twirling them around as I sing my part.. and they reply with theirs.. the kids are doing flips in front of us as the choir belts out the melody from behind.. I walk back to the front of the room as I know the song is nearing finish… The kids belt out the last of the sing and produce the kids on the side of the chalkboard into huge summersault flips and catch the kids dismounting from the side of the chalkboard. We all take our places as the final words of the song are sung by the teachers and me…
