Sorry Chicken Little

by Amy Niggel

The sky started falling today,
big 'ole peices
just raining down in chunks.
And me with out an umbrella!
So I stood beneath a tree
as I watched others run for cover,
running toward the cave.
I stared upwards,
no longer skyward for the sky was at my feet,
and I saw beyond the world
beyond reality
The moon,
the stars,
glaxies we didn't know existed.
How beautiful!
While everyone hid from apparent disaster,
waiting to be eaten by the fox,
I smiled
staring out from my tree
and seeing for the fist time everything.
And I realized the sky falling in
is not something to fear,
for in that moment of ultimate destruction,
comes a new life
a rebirth of sorts
and it is beautiful!
Sorry Chicken Little,
but the sky is falling beautifully today.

Author's Note: heh this is what I get for trying to write poetry during a professional writing class I suppose.
