talking to myself again

by Olivia Weinkein

mister, i think i've overstayed my welcome again.
if, thats to say, i was ever welcomed in the first
place. i am not a poet today and tomorrow isn't
looking so good either. mister, just learn to breathe
again and quit eating my words before i say them.
and sister, stop grinding yourself into fractions. i'm
not much good at being someones opponent. stop
taking everything i do for granted and stop wearing
my attitude like you own it. man, who writes this stuff.
and you, who is looking more familiar by the hour.
quit making me think i'm not alone here. stop knocking
my legs down when i prop them up and for christ's sake,
let me dig my own hole here.

Such raw truth and honesty. I love it.
