You broke your heart
you hurt your soul
you sould out
you lost control.
So you sit down
with pen in hand
and you cry out loud
about the hard times you've had.
The words just come
like water from the sky
as you hum the tune
like a tried and true lullabye.
It mends your heart
and heals your soul
it digs you out
and gives you back control.
simple music
simple words
and it is in this
you find your cure.
And at this time
you find the truth
it is times like this you know why
people sing the blues.
