Canyon Equinox by Siri Lipscomb
Drenched in indigo moonlight infusion
Shadows cast their stark illusion
Chill sands of the desert night
Aid them in their silent flight
The haunting echoes of his flute
Evoked the deepest blush
He played like a choir
In a canyon cathedral
And made her senses rush
His soul poured through his fingers
As he told his haunting tale
He held her while he loved her
And let her sadness pale
The rhythm of their blending
On the blue desert beach
Was primitive yet new
The wolf watched
From the canyon rim
And they heard him howl too

Posted by JD Clay on 09/11/03 at 12:14 PM A timely posting, this full moon. Great resonance with the intricate rhyme scheme, Siri. It's as though the poem itself is calling out in return. Elusive yet provocative. I say, this one goes in the front of the book.
