A Short Elegy for Warren Zevon

by Bruce W Niedt

When my ride is here,

I want to leave with class,

like you:

saving just enough wind

to cut your swan song,

with friends all around,

holding on to the morbid humor

that was your trademark.

So good night, dark prince;

may flights of werewolves

and headless Thompson gunners

sing you to your rest.
