i know not of these words you speak of

by Rachelle Howe

i need no flowery words
or sonnets
i need none of this life
or the next
i don't need anthems
ringing in these bell towers.
i don't need the world spinning
at my feet.

"you don't need words," she says.
"you don't need improv, or
terza rima.
you don't need poetry." she says,
as she plops upon my lap.
"i'm all the topic you could ever need."

Author's Note: okay. this is a joke. :) so take it that way. i asked for a topic, and jennifer says, "you don't need a topic, i'm all the topic you need." so, i said, "fine." and there you have it.
