The Choice

by Thomas K. Hunt

I can feel a difference in the air
It’s been gradual but now not so subtle

Dim, void of the life that I once knew
I see another light in your eyes
Is it fate forced by the years?
Is this the path to our demise?

I never thought this would come to be
Now I don’t count
What I need from you is not what you want to give
But I need it to live

It’s hard to understand how you can be so indifferent
I’ve been there for you
Maybe sometimes I didn’t show it right
But I feel I've always came through

Now that I need you the most
You’re somewhere but not here
You listen but you don’t hear

Maybe if I go, you’ll realize
You’ll shine that old light in your eyes
Or maybe you’ll just let it die

"What I need from you is not what you want to give But I need it to live" This line makes it all sound so urgent to me... great
