Someone once told me by Amy NiggelSomeone once told me
that my compassion was my biggest fault.
I wanted to "change the world"
someone told me I would fail.
I wanted to "save everyone"
someone told me I was insane.
I wanted to "be blind to race and creed and sexuality",
someone told me I was terrible.
I wanted to "believe",
someone told me it wasn't true.
I saw a world in colors someone couldn't see.
I looked past the outsides of the world that someone clung to.
I sought out the cracks in a facade someone couldn't see.
Someone once told me
that my compassion was my biggest fault,
and I felt sorry for them. 09/06/2003 Author's Note: Dedicated to everyone who tells me that I let myself get walked all over and that I am going to get burnt out trying to save the world... if I don't try how will I know if can succeed?
