playa anthem

by Michele Schottelkorb

we walk among the open souls
gifts put out in seashell bowls

atonement here, honor there
a thunderdome calls in the air

an orb of function lights the way
precious alliances come to play

inhale from the playa, make a flag
kiss a cheek, share a rag

a man in blue calls your name
this is our home, it's not a game

be one with love, peace and drink
mushrooms grow and make you think

your eyes light up with ecstasy
sleep on a couch that's made for thee

plant a thought, share a smoke
be wild and free, you will not choke

bare your essence, discard your shell
leave your images of pain and hell

we all are one with our calling
don't catch yourself, continue falling

into this blessed city of dreams
filled with bonded, mended seams

remember all you have seen here
until we meet again next year...
