workday woes

by Kimberly Bare

Beware the flights of fancy in the mind,
these predators of precious time.
For just as you begin the day,
they're asking you to stop and play.

Just a word or two for a passing friend,
"Hello there, how have you been?"
Before you know it, it's half past noon,
gone out to lunch, be back soon.

Lunchtime is over, gonna get to work now,
gotta find the bottom of this pile somehow.
Time flies by then you're on your way,
only halfway done, but tomorrow's another day.
