September's December by Philippa JaneI fast forwarded to the date,
anxiously scanning through
the archives to discover if
you thought of me that day -
our relationship paused,
we'd abandoned months of
overexposed film, expiration
date unknown. Yet I held faith
in your memory's reruns.
Today, presented with a
still shot, I zoomed in
on the hour; set focus on
the thoughts that had plagued
your extended silence.
And I cried when I finally read
your solitude's recollection -
released a tear for the girl
who never anticipated to
die at your mercy on
her birthday. 09/03/2003 Posted on 09/04/2003 Copyright © 2024 Philippa Jane
