GRAVitY by Leslie Ann Eisenberg
Through the clouds, you trace
ME
The dusky outline of A BEAST
in flight
A blur OF FANCY, burning
Into focus
As I FALL to
earth
HEADFIRST, I spiral
Beak and breath and blushed cheeks
My arms sprout wings of pink
and powder blue,
The resiny
dust of my fresh feathers,
HEAVEN
to touch
If
I let you
My proud purple crest
Bleeds
into virgin ribcage patches, a
tattoo map of white speckled splendor
that GIRDS
MY pale yellow belly, round with
HOPE and calm, peeking down
at the ground
that awaits
The peaceful pull of you

Posted by Kara Hayostek on 11/15/03 at 06:10 PM I really liked this poem, the spiraling down headfirst without fear and panic, its real calming. I also liked the line "MY pale yellow belly, round with
HOPE" |
