I Will Not Resign

by David R Spellman

Tho’ death surrounds me
and her promise whispers
closely to my expectant ear,
and my sight may be clouded
by murmurs which quake me
disturbing my obstructed view
shuddering through my core.
And as I am overwhelmed
by the merciless machinations
of a world gone awry, crazed
by selfish and evil desires that
I cannot recognize as the truth
of a human condition striving
to reach higher heights than
what we imagine before us:
I will not give in to the apathy
I’ll rise above it, yes, try again
to knock me down and make me
feel helpless, or abandoned, no
more shall I stop my love from
flowing out of me, into you
I breath my spirit, let it come
let me make you be alive
never to fold against the storm;
my strength will prevail against
the horrors you continue to
throw against my faith, my
will to rise above all of your
bullshit which tempts me to
let you win the final hand.

Come,
let us wrest the evil from our lands
and reclaim the right to live
to be happy,
and to be free...

Amen! Whether it is terrorism, decadence, or Satan (satanic all at root), there is a righteous resolve that will not quit when enforced by love. Great poem which has been lauded much better than I could do already!

'to be happy, and to be free...', extremely positive and prolife. Moreover, the tone is so assertive, charged with a special kind of a desire.
