outside the box

by Philippa Jane

One lazy August morning, I
considered rubbing furiously
at my outlines -
an attempt (in vain) to erase
these chalk curves of grey and
recreate myself in the shadow of
your splendor.

By that August afternoon, I
decided to eventually entrust
(in my children's children)
this tale of your blinding luminance -
and uncover their faith in the
sudden technicolor revolution
you finger-painted across

my eighteenth year.

hmmm... I can relate. Great flow - the ending really tied the poem together. :)
