deafened

by Rachelle Howe

dear sister,
it's so quiet here.
it's been a long time since i've
felt so eclipsed and blotted out.

i'm missing my home, rarah.
the letters are worn and ragged
on this hollow page;
the ink smeared and bleeding.
my pen doesn't work like it used to,
my solace is fleeting again.

we should find a way to fly, sistermine,
i yearn to feel the wind against my back.
too long i've been grounded on this plain,
too long since i could hear anything but silence.

love,
raggy

Beautiful and wistful, grabs at the reader's heart.

Such a touching and heartfelt scene. A warmth is conveyed in this work and it is gently conveyed to the reader. Superb format.
