Bright And Beautiful

by Richard Paez

I can tell it’s summer
By how quick the days go by
I close my eyes
Breathe deeply
Another dreaming day awakens

And when I close my eyes
I can hear you singing
Loud and strong
Like the Bright and Beautiful
End of the World

Bruised, time-lapse clouds
Enter and leave my sky
Rolling and breaking
Like waves in a memory
Like dreams we haven’t dreamed yet

Our future I remember only dimly
But the flowers of our past
You hold today as seeds.
They will bloom again
After winter passes

And the world is born again
Bright and beautiful

I can tell it’s summer
By how quick the days go by
I close my eyes
Breathe deeply
Another dreaming day awakens

Beautifully written, after I read it, I automatically closed my eyes and took a deep breath, it was like my mind wanted to share the experience of the poem. Interesting paradox in the third stanza. Thank you for sharing.

Outstanding. You've filled this with some amazing words and exceptional images for the mind's eye. The repeated stanza ends with a new beginning, nicely done.

Summer days are exactly as you describe them here. Just another wonderful read from the poetry of Richard Paez.

the repetitive nature of this piece lends structure and strength to it's message... like a sad last love song... good work, richard... blessings...
