Awakening

by Siri Lipscomb

Awakening in the garden
Beguiled by the snake
Rebuffed by a father
For steps he couldn’t take
Cautioned by a mother
Who was scarred by her fears
Only gaining understanding
After eons of tears

Choosing to go where
Good girls don’t go
Riding the wave of the
Pretty girl show
Not knowing the power
In the right to say no
Believing that love from
Such seedings could grow

Bound by conventions
And rules I would break
Deciding the path was
To vanquish the snake
Finding near-men
Whose potential I'd see
Who just wanted beauty
And not the real me

Now finding a heart
I don’t want to break
Hoping to show
The love that it takes
Is more than the love
That I show I can make
I am ready

A concise and articulate account of a transformational journey. Very insightful, Sirius. Peace...
