Transition

by Siri Lipscomb

The magic was strong
Yet silently gentle
We loved slow and long
And together found the light
Tender reminder of how it feels
To smile inside

The beautiful brief respite
Lifted me from my numbness
And soothed my ragged edges
For awhile
Then profound sadness
Confirming absolute aloneness
Reminding how far I must go
To be whole

Consequences arise when
Reawakening oxytocin
Numbness has its advantages
When I am numb
I do not feel vulnerable
I do not feel lonely
I do not feel

Now I am cynical again
My raw edges have been
Exposed to light and music
But the empty pit has returned

This is so recognizable...seems you're on that path though...good luck to you!

This is a superbly crafted piece, Sirius. It carries a strong message, yet finishes with an open-ended last stanza that leaves the reader guessing. Good stuff! Peace...
