anorexia

by Melinda Sordino

late at night
i wonder why
i ever chose
this path of lies

eating or not
i hide away
growing thinner
day by day

i cannot stop
i will not tell
churning thoughts
i cannot quell

run i must
dance i will
soon enough
this disease will kill

Its better to live in the present with the present, recalling the past when necessary than to live in the past with the past.

Melinda-so many thanks you's: 1) for the comment on my poem. I didn't realize it was "you" until i flipped to your home page...I read "anorexia" a few days ago and it has been with me ever since. In fact, I was thinking about it several moments before i signed on and found your comment. Your first stanza captures it all. 2) thank you for posting it, i understand what it takes.

i know this feeling ...this describes it well ... i am fortunate to have pulled out of it all ... took a MAJOR change in my life to get me there.
