Amplitude

by Karen Michelle

[glimpse
stop
close eyes
open]

chromed plate
shining against
white skin

iris moves
twitch
stop

heartbeat hammering
thudTHUD
thudTHUD

filters out life
ventricle
shutopenshut

the whirl of existence
swirl of blood
anti-bodies

we are
living on
nothing

we are
nothing if not
living

ssssssss sizzle and twist
constrict and shift
choices made that hit

or miss

reflect on glass//metal
two dimensional
inverted pictures

and in that
[glimpse
stop
close eyes
open]
my heart tells me
in whispers

i'd rather trust a dream than a reflection

A wonderful sound piece. I'm still not getting the last line, though, since the rest of the piece is so different, but I do that all the time with last lines, too.
