Renewal

by Teri T Lahmon

I lost all my dreams
shattered in sharp silver slivers
that scatter in sighs
and hide behind fluttering eyelids
I died in my sleep
but when I awoke
I looked with sight that did not see through the illusion of you
My hopes were all used up
But with the tweezers of truth
I will pluck my scattered dreams
from injured eyes
and paste a new mosaic
of a life free from you
