Slumber

by Teri T Lahmon

I thought I slept alone
dreaming silly dreams
full of white tulips
and rowan trees
quick passionate embraces
and lingering desires
wished privacies
held close to my heart
for fear of disappointment...
Perhaps the body that slept next to me
dreamt a different vision
one a little more desperate
a tad more confused
lonely and cold
and reached out for those
secret silly little hopes
I held on to much too tightly.
