in a land close by...

by Ginette T Belle

a paltry troll
drinking grapefruit juice and perrier
under a broken bridge
plastic jars strewn everywhere
look, there is one floating down the river
and all day long
listening to brash footsteps above
ruffled skirts blocking pink sunsets
(haven't seen one up to this day)
feet dangling
and yes, yes, it is a jejune life
but it is a life nonetheless

Great detail and emotion... Love the grapefruit juice and perrier. The small details give the poem a great depth. Thanks for sharing.

luh-huh-huuuve the ending. and when people say to me, "this is life?" i reply the same way... "yes. it is." i didn't say it was good or bad. keep writing, you'll find that spot in the sun.
