Daddy*

by S.J. Tyler

Who’s your daddy?
It isn’t me
I dream I am
But I’m just a little boy
Little boy, not yet a little boy
I would care for you
My love, my dearest
Like no man could
Arms wrapped round
soft kisses on your neck, ear
Cheekbones
You’re meek
Speak to me, dearest
I could be your little boy
I could be your daddy
I could be your sweet lover
If only I’d let you have me
I’d make a point, I’d stand out
Be out there and show you off
My little girl, my woman
I could be the best man
In life’s wedding party
Prove to the world I can handle the job
Keep the ring safely together and binding
Gender ring, circle of strife
Descended so deep into womanhood
That I’ve come out a boy
Hoping to break through the jungle gym
Truly be a him
A man undisputed
Don’t be frightened, threatened
I only want to do good
Treat you like I should
Not challenge your gender ideals
I didn’t choose to be born
A boy without potency
I cannot help misfortune
But the wang doesn’t make the man
A man has respect, gives it away
Does his job
Lives his life
That’s all I’m doing
Who am I hurting?
I’m not screwing your daughter
But if I were, I bet you’d be relieved
I won’t knock her up, dude
I promise!
Real man you say?
I won’t make her cry
I know what she wants
And I give it for free
I live for her needs
Not for planting my seeds
It’s true I’m no man
I am just a boy
Growing and learning just the same as the rest
I’m testing my boundaries, shocking my world
Hoping to live for my special girl
I’m uber-man, I think
New and improved
I've eradicated all the nasty side traits
That’s what you hate
Not because I am below
But above, way beyond how far you could go
My love pushes farther than testosterone
I’ve got it all and I’d give it away
For love in return and a permanent job
Here’s the ring for your girl
Luster’s greater than new
Let her try it on for herself

Damn, SJ...this is a fabulous poem. The message here is immensely personal to me and the flow is phenomenal.
